Oliver Queen sat at his desk and stared down at the piece of paper in front of him. He swallowed hard as he looked over the test results. It couldn’t be right…but in the past few weeks he’d had several of the world’s best doctors go over the data to confirm what in the pit of his stomach he already knew was true.

Chloe Sullivan was his half sister. Five weeks ago Oliver had been in a bad car accident. His car was hit by an 18-wheeler and he was lucky to make it out of the crash alive. He was rushed to the hospital and his doctors had been flown in to tend to him.

Once things settled down they informed Chloe, who’d been the first person to arrive at the hospital, that Oliver needed blood and asked if she’d be willing to see if she was a match. Chloe had readily agreed and once Victor, Bart, AC, Dinah, Lois, and Clark had shown up they agreed to be tested also.

Except for Victor and Clark, who didn’t need people knowing they weren’t exactly human. Out of the five of them Chloe was the only match. So they took her in and started the transfusion. It wasn’t until later that Doctor Hamilton came to him with this information.

He and Chloe both had AB Negative blood, which isn’t something to be overwhelmingly alarmed about; even though the blood type is rare people still have it. It was the other genetic markers that made Hamilton bring the information to Oliver.

Oliver brushed the papers aside and stood with a wince. His body was still killing him. He’d only been out of the hospital for the past week, but he was slowly making his way back to his old self. He moved slowly over to the window and looked out into the night skyline of Metropolis.

Chloe and the guys would be here soon…they had a Justice League meeting tonight, but that was the last thing on Oliver’s mind. For five weeks he’d been sitting on this information. Five weeks he’d been lying to one of his best friends…one of the people his trusted with his life more than himself…his blood.

Oliver rubbed a hand over his face and clenched his jaw. He wasn’t sure how much longer he’d be able to hold in the emotions that had been building inside of him. He’d lived all these years without any family…with no one to turn to except himself.

Should he tell her? Would knowing she’s related to him change things between them? Oliver wasn’t sure, but he also didn’t want to spend the rest of his life without any family. He and Chloe were close, they knew each other so well and sometimes it baffled him how much they were a like.

And now…he knew why. There was a buzz and Oliver glanced at his monitor. Chloe was in the elevator waving at the camera. Oliver shook his head, cracked a smile, walked over to his desk, and pushed the override button to let Chloe in.

Less than two minutes later she was walking through the elevator doors with a smile on her face and a bag in her hand.

“Hey Ollie, how you feeling?”

Oliver shrugged.

“Can’t complain.”

She furrowed her brows and moved closer to him giving his body a once over.

“You really should be resting. You’re never gonna heal up if you keep moving around. Remember what Hamilton said. Relax…we need you back out there helping out.”

Oliver chuckled, nodded, and moved so he was sitting on the couch. Chloe walked over and took some food out of the bag she was carrying. She frowned as she looked around the apartment.

“Where is everyone?”

“Uh…they’ll be here in a half hour. I asked you to come early because I have something I wanted tot all to you about.”

Chloe raised an eyebrow, put the food aside, and came to sit in front of him.

“What’s on your mind?”

Oliver opened his mouth a few times before closing it. He watched her face, honest and open, ready to hear anything he had to say and he couldn’t do it. They were close enough that he knew about her family…about her history.

Hell Mrs. Sullivan was in one of his facilities being cared for until they could come up with a way to take her out of her comatose state. Oliver didn’t want to ruin Chloe’s idea of her family…of her father since he was really the only family she had left…well that she knew about.

Oliver steeled himself and came to a decision. He wouldn’t tell Chloe…not tonight anyway…he’d let her find out for herself and come to him with the information and if she didn’t…well then he’d find the right time to tell her. Right now it was just nice to know he wasn’t alone.

Oliver leaned forward, took her hand in his, and smiled.

“I just wanted to say thanks. You saved my life…again. Jeez sidekick…soon you’re gonna have so many IOU’s from me that I’ll never be able to get to them all.”

Chloe chuckled and patted Oliver’s hand.

“There are no IOU’s Oliver you know that. We’re friends…friends help each other when they can. Now this friend,”

She pointed to herself.

“Is going to make you a plate of food and bring it back in here for you because you mister need to keep up your strength. The team is haywire without their commander.”

Oliver grinned as Chloe stood up and made her way to the kitchen with the bag of food. He shook his head, leaned back on the couch and sighed. She may not know she’s his half sister right now, but should would eventually and until then…Oliver could be happy with her friendship.

Knowing he wasn’t alone and never would be again…because he’d finally found what he’d been missing all these years…family…
