Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong, but
Nothing's turned out how you wanted

Oliver had known since the minute he helped her release the arrow striking a bullseye in the target in the middle of Watchtower. It didn’t happen all at once. It started after his talk with Carter and grew from there, with small moments between them.

Oliver had never been especially lucky in love, but things with Chloe had been different. So when he had kissed her that night, dropping his bow and wrapping her tiny frame in his arms, he had later agreed to her demand for rules and helped her draw lines, not wanting his own bad luck to ruin what he was sure had been something that could last.

The night Tess told him that Checkmate had captured something called Watchtower, was what confirmed it. Fear had ripped through his body, heart racing as he had berated himself for never telling her what she really meant to him, before determination to get her back had kicked in, so that one day he could make sure she knew all those things.

He had thought she was oblivious to what was right in front of her…that she hadn’t seen the shift in their arrangement, but now he knew he had been wrong.

Chloe had known all along. Her most recent actions had proved that. Oliver brought the glass up to his lips, arms resting on the balcony railing, as he glanced over the Metropolis skyline. No matter how hard he tried to be angry with her…to rid himself of her, he couldn’t.

And more importantly he didn’t want to. She was embedded under his skin, a part of him. Chloe had somehow managed to carve out a place deep in his heart that only she could touch. Because what they had wasn’t a fantasy and it wasn’t perfect.

It was real, free of judgments, lies, and full of honesty. She captivated him, mind body and soul. Made him feel alive in ways he’d never felt before her. Chloe was his air and with her gone, he felt like he was drowning. He knew she was out there…planning…waiting…for what and where he didn’t know.

When she traded herself for him, he had lost his heart. Wherever Chloe had gone she’d taken it with her, but he still felt it. It was in everything he did, every action, every decision he made. He thrived on the memories that played through his head at night when he lay on sheets that he swore still smelled of her scent.

Oliver was convinced that no matter how far away Chloe was, the bond between them would hold strong until she came back to him. And deep down he knew she would. Nothing had turned out the way he had wanted, but Oliver knew what his fate was. He emptied the contents of his glass before closing his eyes, a breeze brushing over his skin as a smile slipped onto his lips. And he knew he wouldn’t have to wait long before it found him.
