It was late Saturday afternoon and Oliver was sitting in his home office finishing up a few calls as he looked over the mail that had come that morning. His hands glanced over the credit card bill as he held the phone between his shoulder and ear while sliding a finger under the edge and ripping it open.

“I’m sure that can be handled without a problem…I’ll talk to my wife about it and see if she wouldn’t mind helping plan it…I don’t think she’ll mind, but before you give the go ahead let me talk to her. I know she’s been busy at work lately…”

The voice on the other end of the line made an affirmative noise as he discussed how exciting it would be to once again have a Mrs. Queen to help with social events and going into how he used to love working with Oliver’s Mother and what not.

But as Oliver unfolded the bill and he skimmed over the words there he blinked eyes widening. This had to be a mistake. He checked the name to make sure he hadn’t accidentally opened his bill instead of Chloe’s, but no, the name on top clearly said in dark ink, Chloe Ann Queen.

He cleared his throat and spoke quickly. “Mr. Montgomery…I’ve gotta go, I’m so sorry to cut this conversation short, but I need to take care of something really quickly.” The older gentlemen let him know it was no problem before saying his goodbyes as Oliver hung up the phone and stood.

He kept the paper in his hand as he walked out into the hallway towards the kitchen where he could hear Chloe moving around. He paused in the doorway and watched her as she glanced at the cookbook with a frown and mumbled under her breath. “What the hell does that even mean?”

A small smile appeared on his lips as she huffed in frustration a stray piece of hair flying up from her breath. When he told her to start using her Black Card a part of him never actually thought she would and he was happy that she went out shopping…he was just curious what in the world she spent all that money on.

He hadn’t seen any new clothes, purses or shoes. Sure last month she’d gone on a little shopping spree with Mia, but the teenager had her own card under his supervision and had a maximum limit of thirty thousand a month…and even with that Mia rarely spent more than maybe two thousand tops and that was when she was being extravagant, which didn’t happen often.

He’d seen a few new silk nightgowns appear in her drawers over the last few weeks, all in colors he liked and he’d even seen her sporting a new clip for her hair, and though it was cute, it was silver and couldn’t have possible cost more than $50.

Which led him to his current question, what exactly had his wife spent $50,000 on? He cleared his throat and Chloe’s head whipped around, a hint of flour on her cheek as she smiled. “Hey.” He grinned and pushed himself away from the wall.

“Hello my gorgeous wife…” Chloe smirked and made a nosie. “Mmm what do you want?” He shook his head and wrapped his arms around her from behind placing a light kiss against her neck before moving so he was in front of her.

“Nothing…well almost nothing. I’ve got a quick question for you.” She made a ‘hmm’ noise and continued trying to press the flour into the too sticky dough while making funny faces. He arched an eyebrow at her attempts to make…whatever she was trying to make as he spoke. “I got the credit card bills in the mail today…”

He let his sentence trail off and she froze before looking up at him a guilty expression on her face. She wiped off her hands on the towel before speaking quickly. “I’m so sorry Ollie…I know I spent a lot I didn’t mean to…I was going to tell you, but I didn’t want you to be upset with me. I’m always telling you how you should be more frugal with you money and then I go out and go nuts.”

She let out a sigh glancing down as he frowned. He nudged her chin until she was glancing up at his face as he spoke brows furrowed. “You think I’m mad? Chloe I’m glad you’re using the card…I’m the one who told you too.” He chuckled lightly and shook his head as he held up the bill and showed it to her.

“I’m just curious what you spent $50,000 on…I mean I haven’t seen you in anything new….so I know it’s not clothes…and there was no naked modeling of shoes…so I know it’s not that. No new car in the driveway…so I’m just trying to figure out what you bought.”

Chloe bit her lower lip eyes lighting up as she glanced at him a hint of excitement in her voice as she spoke. “Wanna see?” He grinned slightly at her excitement and nodded. “Yeah.” She moved out of the kitchen and down the hallway as Oliver waited in the kitchen patiently.

She came back a couple of minute’s later eyes bright as she held up a small box. Oliver arched an eyebrow and she motioned for him to take the box. He did and when he pulled it open he blinked down at the object in the small cushion and then glanced up at his wife before pursing his lips and speaking.

“You spent $50,000 on a pen?” Chloe rolled her eyes and scoffed. “Of course not don’t be ridiculous…I go to the dollar store for pens. Oliver this…it’s a new technology from Japan! It looks like an ordinary pen, but…wait for it…it’s a computer!”

She bounced slightly and Oliver just continued to blink. He watched as she pulled the pen
carefully out of the case and stood in on the counter on its little stand before pushing the tiny buttons on the side of it. The small camera on the top of the pen projected a screen onto the wall and his eyes widened slightly as a holographic keyboard appeared by the base of the pen.

He stared as she excitedly pressed on the keys showing him how it worked, her words getting lost slightly in the back of his head as he shook his head. There was no denying it. His wife was a hardcore geek. She knocked him out of his thoughts with a hand to the chest her words once again flowing into his ears.

“Did you hear what I said?” He titled his head to the side and grinned. “No…but I have to say…when you geek out over technology you’re completely adorable Professor…I should have known that the way to your heart wasn’t shoes but electronics…”

She grinned as he wrapped an arm around her while she gripped her pen tightly in her hand as he led her out of the room. “You know…we should bring that into the Queen Industries lab…see if we can’t improve the technology and create our own prototype...”

Her eyes opened wide as she turned into him one hand gripping his shirt. “Really? Can I help? And have the first one when it’s done?” He chuckled softly and nodded. “Anything for you Mrs. Queen…” Chloe smirked as she gave him a sideways glance. “I knew there was a reason I married you…”
