(Chloe POV)

I groaned as Lois pulled me into the Talon. She rolled her eyes in my direction as she dragged me over to a booth by the stairs. Coming home to visit Lois for the weekend was obviously a bad idea. Not only did I walk in on her and Clark devouring each others faces on the couch, but they’ve decided to take it upon themselves to set me up on a blind date.

“Oh come on cuz, don’t be such a downer. Suck it up, I promise I think you’ll like the guy Clark picked out.”

“Mmm I’m sure, because Clark’s judgment when it comes to guys for me is stupendous.”

I watched as Lois winced slightly.

“Yeah…about that…he meant well last time. How was he supposed to know the guy was meteor infected?”

“Whatever, the point is Clark doesn’t have the best taste in men.”

Lois chuckled as we moved and sat at the table.

“Thank god for that or I’d definitely have a problem.”

We laughed and a waitress came over to take our orders. A few minutes later I saw two large hands wrap around Lois from behind and I turned slightly to see Clark leaning in to kiss Lois on the head.

“Hey Lo’”

He pulled up a chair and sat between us. He grinned in my direction, leaned over, and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“It’s good to see you Chlo.”

I smiled and gave him a look of amusement.

“You act like you never see me. You do realize I see you at least twice a week…right?”

He opened his mouth and was about to say something when his gaze shifted and he waved. I frowned slightly and turned in the direction he was looking. I blinked and saw Bart standing in front of me holding an Arabian Night Dahlia with a smirk planted firmly on his face.

I glanced toward Clark and Lois with a confused look on my face and Bart laughed.

“Hey there Chloelicious…by the look on that gorgeous face of yours I’m going to say Lois and Stretch over here didn’t tell you I was your man in waiting for the evening.”

I looked back at Bart and smiled. He always knows how to break the ice. He sat down next to me and I took the flower from him. I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Thank you and no, the dynamic duo did not tell me you were coming tonight.”

I glared lightly in their direction and Lois gave me a wicked look. She stood up and pulled Clark along with her.

“Well kids we have places to go and people to see, so…we’ll see you later.”

Clark gave us a sheepish smile as Lois yanked at his sleeve.

“Let’s go Smallville; I’m sure they can take it from here. You show my baby cousin a good time, got it?”

Bart saluted her.

“Yes Ma’am.”

She gave a nod and Clark waved as they left the Talon with smiles on their faces. I turned back toward Bart and he looked slightly nervous. I raised an eyebrow.

“What’s wrong?”

He shook his head.

“Nothing, so…good surprise…bad surprise…what’s going on in that head of yours?”

I gave him a warm smile.

“Definitely a good surprise.”

“You hungry?”

“I could eat.”

He grinned.

“What’ll it be? Italian, Chinese, Thai, French?”

I laughed.

“Surprise me.”

He winked.

“You got it sweet cheeks.”

There was a rush of air and he was gone. As I waited patiently for him to come back my thoughts drifted…The truth is…I’m glad it was Bart standing there tonight and not someone else. It’s been a little over a year since Jimmy died…

And to be honest I don’t think I would have gotten through it all if it wasn’t for Bart. I never really took the time to notice it, but he was always there for me. Whether it was cheering me up, helping with a mission, lending an ear, or providing a shoulder to cry on; I could always count on him.

He’s been a constant in my life. Over the past few months I’ve found myself going to him more and more. Spending more time with him, expanding our friendship. Bart’s always had a flirtatious crush on me…but I’m not sure when it became more than that…or when I started to feel the same…

Another light breeze brought me out of my thoughts and I glanced up to see Bart placing a to-go box in front of me as he sat down. There was a sparkle in his eyes as I gave him a small grin.

“Open it up Blondie.”

I moved the box around and opened it. A sweet and spicy aroma filled the air and I closed my eyes and breathed in to savor the aroma.

“Mmm Thai…”

He nodded.

“Straight from Thailand baby.”

I chuckled and looked up at him. There was a warm smile on his face and a playful glint in his eyes. I leaned forward a little so I was slightly closer to him and spoke.

“Have I told you lately that I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me recently?”

I watched as he ducked his head and his cheeks blushed slightly.

“Aww come on Chloelicious…it’s no big deal.”

I reached over, took his hand, and waited for him to look up at me. When his eyes met mine I squeezed his hand lightly and spoke with emotion lacing my voice.

“Yes…it is…”

It was quiet for a few minutes as we looked at each other and then, before I could say anything, Bart’s lips met mine. Some how he’d made it over to me in the booth and his arms were winding around my waist. I moaned lightly as I wrapped mine around his neck.

We broke apart a few minutes later and I’m almost positive he could see the confusion on me face.

“You kissed me…”

Bart opened his mouth, shut it and opened it again. He pointed at me.

“You…kissed me back…”

I nodded.

“What are we doing here?”

He shrugged, but his eyes were intense.

“That depends on you…if you’re not ready…I can…”

I cut him off.

“I’m ready…I just…I’m scared.”

I lowered my voice and looked down.

“I don’t want to ruin what we have…your friendship…your presence in my life has…it means so much to me.”

He nudged a finger under my chin so I was looking at him again and he smiled.

“All joking aside…I’m not going anywhere Chloe…I think…I think I’ve loved you for a long time.”

I felt water pool in my eyes as I cupped his cheek and pulled him in for a kiss. Between kisses he spoke.

“So…we’re on the same page?”

I nodded.

“Same page.”

I pulled away and he raised an eyebrow. I gave him a mischievous grin, grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the booth. He looked confused for a minute before I pulled him up the steps towards Lois’ apartment.

I opened the door and Bart slammed it behind us as he wrapped me in his arms. I let out a soft giggle as he waggled his eyebrows at me. His lips were back on mine and I pulled him with me as I moved back. A few steps later my legs hit the bed and I fell on it in a sitting position.

Bart was leaning over me as I pulled him closer. He froze and spoke in a soft voice.

“You sure?”

I nodded.

“I’ve never been more sure about anything…”

I moved up to the head of the bed and pulled him on top of me. I could feel the heat from his body as I moaned in his ear. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the sensations he was evoking in my body. Oh god…why didn’t we do this sooner…was the last coherent thought that crossed my mind…

*****

A loud knock on the door startled me awake. I groaned and rolled over…right into a warm body. My eyes popped open. What the hell…I heard a low grunt as Bart rolled onto his back and I grinned. There was another knock on the door, more insistent this time.

I got up, cursed when I stubbed my toe on the side of the bed, and glanced around the room. There was a sliver of light coming from the window and I saw a dress shirt on the chair a few feet away. I grabbed it, threw it on, and buttoned it on the way to the door.

I unlocked it and pulled the door slightly open. I squinted my eyes when more light came in. Lois stood there with a smirking Clark behind her.

“You locked the door…”

I nodded, rubbed my eyes, and Clark stretched his arm out handing me a cup of coffee, which I grabbed gladly. I took a long sip and spoke.

“Yes, people tend to lock the door when they go to sleep…it keeps the bad guys from waltzing in.”

I could see amusement dancing in Clark’s eyes, but the frown was still on Lois’ face.

“You have my key…”

I nodded again.

“Yeah, so I could get in.”

“You locked me out Chloe.”

I shrugged.

“I assumed you’d be staying with Clark last night…I didn’t think it would be a big deal.”

Clark took that moment to chime in.

“Which you did Lo’ so technically it’s not that big of a deal.”

Lois glared at him and then looked back at me and gave me a once over. Her frown turned to confusion.

“Why are you wearing Clark’s shirt?”

I glanced down and touched the shirt lightly before looking back up with a sheepish smile.

“Oops…actually I think the better question here is…why does your boyfriend keep his shirts lying all over the place…ever heard of a hamper Clark?”

He shrugged and pointed to Lois.

“Hey I didn’t leave it on the floor. That’s Lois’ favorite shirt. I gave it to her…she left it lying around, not me.”

Lois smiled.

“That’s right cuz, so off with it…now.”

She grabbed for it and I screeched and stepped back.

“Lois! Unless you’d like your boyfriend to see parts of me he’s never seen before I’d advise you too keep your hands to yourself.”

Her eyes widened and a smirk slid on her face.

“Open the door Chlo…I need to get ready for work.”

I opened my mouth and closed it. I looked at Clark and gave him a look that clearly cried out ‘help’. He sighed taking pity on me.

“Come on Lo’. You have clothes at the farm. I don’t know why you didn’t just get ready there.”

“No, let us in Chloe…unless there’s a reason why you can’t…”

I could hear the teasing tone in her voice and I made a face.

“There’s no reason I just…”

Bart chose that moment to walk up to the door. He leaned his head over to look at Lois and Clark. I sighed, put my head down and shook it. He grinned.

“Morning Stretch…Cousin Lois…”

Lois snorted and Clark fought to keep himself from laughing. Bart glanced at my coffee and then looked at Clark.

“Where’s my coffee stretch?”

“Uh…”

“I think I can handle getting my girl coffee in the morning…”

Clark smiled.

“Noted.”

Lois gave Bart a playful glare.

“I thought I told you to show my baby cousin a good time…”

He gave her a wicked smirk.

“Oh…I showed her a great time.”

He slapped my ass lightly and I bit my lip.

“Ain’t that right Chloelicious?”

I nodded with false seriousness.

“Absolutely.”

He reached up an arm and held the door before speaking.

“Actually…I need to show her more of a good time now that I’m awake. So, it looks like you’ll be going back to the farm to get ready after all. Bye…”

Lois looked shocked, Clark let out a loud laugh and the door slammed shut. Bart picked me up, threw me over his shoulder and carried me back toward the bed.

I squealed and laughed as I heard Lois outside yelling about PDA’s and having to burn her sheets. Bart tossed me on the bed and grinned.

“Ready for another adventure?”

“More ready than you know.”

I smiled as he looked down on me. Lois and Clark might be annoying and meddlesome…but at least they got something right…this is the best set-up ever…
