(Clark POV)

“I wanna punkin…”

I twirled around in my seat to see my 3-year old son looking up at me with wide eyes. I raised an eyebrow.

“What son?”

He pointed to the hand sized pumpkin on Chloe’s desk.

“I wanna punkin.”

I glanced at Chloe as her hands flew across the keyboard. I reached over to her desk, plucked the small pumpkin from it, and handed the pumpkin to Jonathan.

“There you go buddy.”

I saw him frown at the pumpkin before I turned back toward my computer screen. I started typing again when I felt a small hand tug on my shirt sleeve. I let out a light sigh and spun my chair to face Jonathan again. I smiled at him.

“Yes son?”

He held up the pumpkin and scrunched up his nose. He get’s that expression from Chloe…

“I dun want this punkin…this is mommy’s punkin…I want my own punkin daddy…”

I heard a stifled chuckle and I glanced at Chloe out of the corner of my eye. There was a grin on her face. We’ll see how funny she thinks this is…I sent a mischievous look her way and bent down to Jonathan’s level before speaking.

“You know…you’re right Jonathan. You should have your own pumpkin. I bet if you go over and ask mommy real nicely with those special eyes daddy taught you, she’ll take you to go get a pumpkin.”

His face lit up as he waved the pumpkin around for me to take, which I did.

“Okay!”

I sat up, leaned back in my chair, and crossed my arms over my chest with satisfaction. I watched Chloe with a smirk on my face. Jonathan tugged on Chloe’s skirt and when she spun her chair to face him she saw the playful look on my face and she glared in my direction before smiling down at Jonathan.

“What’s up baby boy?”

He turned his baby blue’s on her and pouted slightly giving Chloe what she affectionately called my patent puppy dog eyes. Something I taught Jonathan about as soon as he was old enough to mimic them. He held his hands together behind his back and rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet.

“Mommy…will you take me to get a punkin? Pleeaasse…”

Chloe looked from Jonathan to me and then back again. I laughed when she let out a sigh of defeat. She shook her head as she spoke.

“Oh, fine. Come on. We’ll take mommy’s lunch break now and go get a pumpkin.”

“Yay!!! Punkin, punkin, punkin…can we make a Jack-in-lantin for Halloweeny?”

I laughed and Chloe gave him a small smile as she bent down and scooped him up in her arms.

“It’s a Jack-O-Lantern baby and yes, we can make a Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween.”

He clapped his hands as Chloe grabbed her purse. I gave her an innocent smile.

“Have fun you two.”

She raised an eyebrow and grunted.

“Mmm…don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing Kent. I’m going to remember this later tonight when you want to go pumpkin picking…”

I flinched slightly as they made their way out of the office. Ah…finally…a few minutes of peace and quiet so I can finish this story…

“KENT!”

I shook my head…

“Damn…”

(Chloe POV)

I watched as Jonathan ran from pumpkin to pumpkin at the Metropolis Pumpkin patch. The people who owned this lot switched it out for every holiday. For Halloween and Thanksgiving there were pumpkins and all kinds of squashes and scare crows. For Christmas it was trees, Valentines’ Day, flowers…you name it they had it.

I was startled out of my thoughts when Jonathan called out to me.

“Mommy look at this one! It’s big!”

I smiled and walked in his direction checking out the pumpkin he picked. My eyes widened slightly.

“Wow sweetie…that’s a pretty huge pumpkin. Why don’t you try looking for one just a little bit smaller okay?”

He sighed, but nodded and took off again. The one good thing about this place was that I could see Jonathan from anywhere in the fenced in lot. I shook my head and turned to look at a table of painted pumpkins when I bumped into someone.

“Oomph, sorry about that.”

I glanced up and standing in front of me was Lionel Luthor. He looked startled to see me and I gave him a look of confusion before moving in and giving him a hug. He smiled as I spoke.

“Mr. Luthor…what are you doing here?”

He chuckled.

“It’s Lionel Miss Sullivan…I mean Kent…and I could ask you the same thing.”

I motioned to Jonathan bouncing around the lot.

“Jonathan wanted a pumpkin, so I decided to take him to get one on my lunch break.”

He nodded.

“He gets bigger and bigger each time I see him.”

I smiled and nodded.

“How’s Mrs. Kent? Are you here picking up some pumpkins yourself?”

His smile was warm when he spoke.

“Martha is doing quite well. Actually I’m here with Alexander, he’s spending a few days with Martha and I. He too expressed an interest in getting a pumpkin for the upcoming.”

Alexander…Lana and Lex’s son…I swallowed hard and nodded as I glanced out into the lot looking for the other little boy. Sometimes it’s odd knowing that, though we consider Lionel family and he treats Jonathan like a grandson, Alexander is his actual grandson…

(Jonathan POV)

I left the huge pumpkin and ran down the aisle looking for more. I slammed into something hard and wound up on the floor shaking my head. What was that? I looked up and there was another boy on the floor rubbing his head.

He made a face at me.

“You knocked me down.”

I nodded.

“Sorry…I fell too.”

We stood up and I watched as he wiped his clothes off. He looked at me and titled his head to the side, but didn’t say anything. I smiled.

“You lookin for a punkin too?”

He nodded.

“Yup. My grandpa brought me.”

“Cool, my mommy brought me.”

“My mommy’s on a business trip.”

I grinned.

“My daddy goes on business trips!”

The other little boy smiled.

“Cool.”

“My name’s Jonathan.”

“I’m Alexander.”

We stood there and looked at each other. I glanced around the pumpkin place and let out a loud breath.

“Wanna look for punkins with me?”

“Sure.”

We walked up and down the rows and right when I didn’t think we’d find anything, away from the other pumpkins there was a small patch of four or five of the awesomest pumpkins I’ve ever seen. We ran over to them and just stared. They weren’t huge, but they weren’t small…they were perfect.

Alexander’s voice brought me out f my thoughts.

“Whoa…those punkins are pretty cool looking.”

I nodded.

“How about you take two and I take two?”

He nodded. We had to move the pumpkins one at a time and it took a while for us to slide them over by the place where you pay. Alexander had just finished moving his and he smiled at me.

“I should go find my grandpa. Thanks for helping me find those cool punkins. It was nice meeting you.”

I waved.

“You too. Bye!”

He ran off and I glared at the pumpkin. That’s it punkin…you’re gonna move….

(Chloe POV)

I was in the middle of a sentence when a little boy came running up to Lionel looking extremely excited. I smiled softly.

“Grandpa, Grandpa! I found two of the coolest punkins ever! Can we get them can we?”

He smiled down at the young boy and laughed lightly.

“Your mother said only one.”

He pouted and I could see he inherited Lana’s doe eyes. Or at least the eyes she used to have before Lex tore the innocence from her. I heard Lionel sigh as he glanced at me and shook his head.

“I consider myself a business tycoon and yet a 3-year-old boy can get the drop on me with one look.”

He nodded toward Alexander.

“Alright, come on then. Let’s get those pumpkins.”

He glanced at me with a smile as Alexander ran off to the cashier.

“It was good seeing you Chloe. Tell Clark and Jonathan I said hello.”

“Will do.”

I waved and watched as they paid and left the lot. I pulled my purse over my shoulder and starting scanning the lot for Jonathan. I heard him before I saw him. There was a grunt and then a loud crash. My head whipped around and I saw Jonathan on his butt inside one of the large pumpkins.

My eyes widened and I ran over to him.

“What happened baby?”

I bent down, grabbed his hands and pulled him out of the pumpkin. I glanced around and saw a lot of dents in the pumpkins around us and when I turned my head I saw a hole in the fence with a pumpkin sticking out of it. Oh crap…

I stood up quickly as the owner came over to us. He was frowning slightly as he glanced around the yard.

“What did you do?”

I opened my mouth, but before I could say anything Jonathan spoke.

“I think your punkins is possesseded…”

He glared at Jonathan and then at me.

“This will not do…”

I looked around, shook my head, and sighed. It figures this would happen while I’m pumpkin shopping with him…damn it Clark Kent…

(Clark POV)

I left the elevator and walked toward our apartment. I wonder why Chloe and Jonathan never came back to work. When I called her she said they decided to just head home. I glanced at my watch and sighed. It’s late and I still have to go on a patrol.

I unlocked the door, opened it, and walked inside. My eyes were on my briefcase as I closed the door. When I looked up I froze. My eyes widened and my mouth dropped open. What the hell…I glanced around the apartment and it was filled with pumpkins.

Small ones, big ones, medium sized ones…the apartment was one big orange pumpkin. I walked further inside and Jonathan flew out of where ever he was and attached himself to my leg.

“Daddy!!! Look at all my punkins!!!”

“Uh…I see them. Hey buddy…where’s your mom?”

He motioned to the kitchen and ran into the living room.

“Kitchen.”

I watched as he danced around the pumpkins and I frowned. Why are they all dented? I made my way into the kitchen and stood there until Chloe turned to face me. She grinned.

“Well hey there husband of mine.”

“Uh, hey Chlo…is there a reason our apartment is full of pumpkins?”

I watched as she shut the flame on the stove off and dumped the pot of pasta into the strainer in the sink.

“Actually, there is.”

I waited for her to continue, but she didn’t.

“…Okay…you going to tell me the reason?”

She turned toward me, crossed her arms over her chest, and glared at me.

“Well today while we were picking pumpkins your son decided to develop his powers. I guess he was pushing a pumpkin, trying to move it, and he pushed it too hard. This resulted in it speeding past the pumpkins around it, causing them to slam into each other. They were traveling so fast that they were all dented even before going through the fence, and onto the street. Oh and he managed to knock himself into a large pumpkin too.”

I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or ask if they were okay. She didn’t seem overly angry, but it’s Chloe…

“Wow…what a day…”

She raised an eyebrow.

“That’s it? What a day?”

I chuckled lightly.

“I’m sorry Chlo…what’d you say to him?”

“Nothing.”

I frowned.

“What does he think happened?”

She grinned.

“He thinks the pumpkin was possessed.”

I rolled my eyes.

“You’ve got to stop letting him watch that show on TV Chloe…really, he’s only three.”

“But he loves Supernatural…besides…those guys are hot…”

I glared at her.

“Thanks a lot…there goes my self esteem. So…what are we gonna do with all these pumpkins?”

She shrugged.

“Pumpkin pie?”

I laughed and she turned back towards dinner.

“Oh yeah, by the way, we aren’t welcome back at the Metropolis Pumpkin Patch.”

I smiled as I opened the fridge to get a drink.

“Yeah, I didn’t think we would be.”

“Hmm…”

I turned to face her and she looked up at me with a serious face as she stirred the sauce onto the pasta.

“Next year, you’re taking him pumpkin picking…”

  3. So nice story...

Oh... being mom of a superpowered boy give some problems... But Chloe will be a supermom preparing pumpkin pie.

I like this small story so much. A good touch that the two boys meet. You have intention that they will be friends some day? Like happened with their fathers?

I am glad you still writing for the "Three Minutes" universe... please write more. I love this universe.

  4. Delightful. I'm normally a CLex reader only, but I love Chloe's character so thought I'd give this a go and it was worth it. You paint such a happy family picture, even with Lionel and Alexander. I always think delightful children means good parenting ( a la Lexmas) so do you think that Lex and Lana can be that bad?

Thanks, I'll try the rest of your fics now, around watching Merlin.

  6. Oliver95-

It's always nice to see a new reader! Personally I love the Lex and Lana pairing. The show should have stuck with it. She brings out the good in him and he makes her not such a pink princess LoL. Lexmas was always one of my favorite episodes.

You know, I've never actually read any Clex fics...I should check one out sometime. I've been thinking of writing a fic lately set in an earlier season so I can explore their friendship...

Or maybe a humorous fic with my two favorite couples. (Chlark & Lexana)Where they actually all get along...for the most part haha.

If you liked this check out 'Three Minutes' this is just a one-shot tag to that enourmously long fic haha. Thanks again for reading and please do come back! :-)
