“There is nothing holier in this life of ours then the first consciousness of love, the first fluttering of its silken wings.”

It happened one night after hours spent running a mission for the team. Chloe made sure everyone was okay and on the jet before disconnecting the coms and stepping away from the computer. She’d been relaxing with a glass of wine when he walked into the tower, take out in hand.

She glanced up into Oliver’s animated face as he alternated between eating his food and telling her what had happened earlier when they’d lost communication for a good five minutes. It hit her in the middle of pulling a noodle from her chicken chow fun into her mouth.

The air was swept from her lungs in that moment. The realization that somehow without meaning to she had fallen in love with Oliver Queen both terrified and exhilarated her. A warm hand against hers pulled Chloe from her thoughts.

As she glanced up at Oliver, worry etched on his face, a small fluttering began low in her stomach.

“You okay? It looked like I lost you there for a minute.”

She flushed, body suddenly feeling very warm as his hand sent a tingle through her arm. She swallowed hard and put down the take out box.

“You haven’t lost me, I’m right here.”

Oliver raised an eyebrow, eyes darkening slightly as they swept over her body.

“You’re sure?”

“Absolutely.”

He nodded as he put his box down on the table and leaned in brushing his lips against her soft ones. She cupped his face, breath warm as she whispered against his lips.

“Stay tonight.”

“Do you even have to ask?”

She smiled and they stood slowly, food strewn across the table as they made their way up the darkened stairs. It happened one night over Chinese food and wine.

Chloe Sullivan felt the first consciousness of love fluttering its silken wings inside of her and she didn’t panic or run…she was unruffled, embracing it like a month embraces the flame.
