Chloe glanced at her watch as she walked through the double doors at Watchtower. She was irritated. It was close to nine in the morning on her birthday and not only had she woken up cold and alone, but Oliver hadn’t answered any of her calls.

She honestly wasn’t one of those crazy females who needed to be doted on twenty four seven. As far as the women Oliver had dated Chloe was almost positive she was the most low maintenance, but forgetting her birthday…really?

She sighed as she stopped in front of her desk. She was about to put her purse down when she noticed the cup of coffee or more accurately cappuccino sitting there. The cup was filled to the brim with foam and sitting on top of it there was cinnamon sprinkled in the shape of a heart.

A white note with a green strips and a small ribbon on one side was propped up against the cup. She paused and a small smile slipped onto her face. After two years of being with Oliver she should have known that he’d do something like this.

While she was all about the quiet and little things, Oliver was all about the upscale grand gestures. She lifted the note gently off the desk and glanced over it.

Chloe chuckled and shook her head. She had to give him credit for creativity. There were a couple of things she needed to do though, before running off on his little treasure hunt. She pulled out her chair and sat down. Right as she powered up her computer the double doors were pushed open.

She glanced over her shoulder in confusion and raised an eyebrow when she spotted a grinning Victor. He waved and made his way over to her. She stood and he pulled her into a hug.

“Happy birthday Chloe!”

“Thanks Vic…What are you doing here? Last I checked you were in Mumbai with Dinah wrapping up a job.”

He nodded as they pulled back from each other.

“I was. We finished up and Oliver flew us out here,” he raised an amused eyebrow at her, “I believe you have elsewhere to be today…”

She rolled her eyes.

“He seriously made you come all the way out here to stay at Watchtower for the day?”

Victor shrugged.

“You know Oliver.”

“Mmm…”

“Well go on girl, get. I can handle things for a day. You’re officially on leave.”

She chuckled before placing a kiss on his cheek, grabbing her bag, and waving on her way out the door. It seemed like her day was looking up. She clutched the note tightly in her hand as she walked to her car. She tossed everything on the passenger seat and grinned as she started up the car.

If Oliver was trying to be coy, he’d have to do a better job of it. That first hint was a piece of cake. She was surprised he even remembered where they first met considering he was dating her cousin at the time.

Chloe shifted the car into gear and took off down the road heading straight out of the city and to the highway in the direction of Smallville.

Two and a half hours later she pulled her car up outside of the Kent farm. Chloe parked, took a deep breath and got out of the car. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins with excitement. She glanced up and spotted Clark leaning against the porch.

He gave her a warm smile and waved. She walked up the steps and before she even reached the last one he pulled her into a large hug, her feet lifting off the ground as she yelped in surprise.

Chloe laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck, amusement coloring her voice as she spoke.

“Jeez Clark give a girl a heads up.”

He put her down a sheepish smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he rubbed the back of his neck. She shook her head and let out a content sigh. One of the world’s greatest superheroes and she could still make him blush like a high schooler.

“Happy birthday Chlo.”

“Thanks, what are you up to? I figured you’d be at the Planet already.”

He nodded.

“I’m heading there in a couple of minutes. Just making sure you got here alright.”

She squinted her eyes in his direction before clucking her tongue.

“Clark Kent…are you telling me that you are a part of Ollie’s little treasure hunt? Because if you know where my next clue is you better tell me.”

He grinned.

“I’m under strict orders not to tell you anything. I’m supposed to make sure you got here and that’s where my job ends.”

She glared at him, but he could see the playfulness behind it. She pulled the note out of her purse and he watched her eyes scan the paper. She looked at ease, happy and it filled him with warmth. Truth be told when he found out about Chloe and Oliver two years ago he hadn’t exactly jumped on the bandwagon.

He respected Oliver and everything he did to help the world, but the guy didn’t have the greatest track records when it came to relationships. And after everything Chloe had been through, well she deserved better…or so he’d thought.

It turned out; Oliver made fewer mistakes than he did when it came to relationships. While he and Lois had broken up and gotten back together several times over the past two years, Oliver and Chloe were solid, unbreakable.

The two of them together were a force of nature. It took him a while to figure it out and a lot of prodding from Lois, but eventually he came around like everyone else had. Watching her now flushed and full of excitement made him realize there wasn’t anyone more perfect for her then Oliver.

He was happy they’d both found that person. Her voice startled him out of his thoughts and he looked at her confusion on his face.

“Sorry Chlo what?”

She rolled her eyes and patted him on the chest.

“I know where I’m going. Why don’t you head off to work? Your mission is completed.”

He smiled and nodded before leaning down and placing a kiss on her cheek.

“I’ll talk to you later. Have fun.”

With a gust of wind he was gone and she was making her way back down the stairs and towards the barn. When she pushed apart the massive doors and stepped inside she gasped, hand tightening around the card as she caught sight of the floor.

In the shape of a large arrow must have been hundreds of rose petals of all different colors. The arrow was obviously her second clue. Chloe took a few tentative steps forward following a trail of yellow roses until she came to a card lying next to them. She gently bent down and lifted it in shaky hands.

Scrawled in his messy script was a message that made warmth fill her from head to toe.

Photobucket

She looked away from the card as the petals switched to red. At the last red petal was another card. She lifted that one up and took a deep breath.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she hastily wiped them away and continued to the arrow head, which was made of pink petals. She glanced in front of her, the tip of the arrow pointing to a bale of hay in front of it.

She moved closer and saw one more card on the floor. She bent down, picking it up and gazed over the writing.

By the time Chloe made it to the stack of hay a few tears had slipped down her cheeks. No one had ever gone through so much trouble to show her how much they cared. Sometimes she wondered how they hadn’t found each other sooner.

The sound of a shrill phone beeping knocked her from her thoughts and she frowned as she looked around trying to find the offending object. When the noise repeated she lifted her head slightly and found it sitting on top of the bale of hay.

Chloe reached forward, lifted it up and glanced at the screen. What was her cell phone doing in Clark’s barn? She could have sworn she had it with her that morning. She raised an eyebrow at the 1 new message on the screen before clicking the read button. The message popped up and she read through it.

Chloe smiled as she pocketed her phone and turned around heading back out the barn doors. What did Oliver mean she wouldn’t need her car? She glanced at her watch, the hands telling her it was noon as she stepped into the bright sun, warmth beating down on her.

She looked up and started to walk back to her car when she spotted Bart leaning against it. He smirked and waved at her.

“Chloelicious, you are lookin’ mighty fine this afternoon mamacita.”

Her laughter was loud and carefree as Bart pulled her into a hug. She moved back, hands on his shoulders as she grinned from ear to ear.

“You’re back in town too?”

He shrugged.

“Just for the day. Couldn’t have you celebrating you’re birthday without seeing the Bartster.”

“I’m glad. You’ve been gone too long.”

Bart grinned impishly as he offered Chloe his arm.

“Well I’m back now and offering you a ride on the fastest transportation train their ever was. Ready?”

She opened her mouth, but before she could say anything his arms were around her as he lifted her bride style in his arms and took off. Her hands clenched around his neck, her head buried in his shoulder as wind and god knows what else whipped around them.

And then what felt like less than a minute later everything was still and a rough hand was rubbing her arm gently.

“You okay there Chloelicious?”

She lifted her head and there was amusement on his face. She glared as he put her down helping her remain steady on her feet.

“A little more warning next time Bart, jeez,” she looked at the building next to them and confusion settled on her face, “where are we?”

He shrugged.

“Sorry mamacita. This is where our journey ends. Don’t be too sad to see me go okay?”

She rolled her eyes as he leaned forward and placed a kiss on her cheek.

“Go inside and ask for Melanie. Happy birthday gorgeous.”

And he was gone, leaving her slightly ruffled as she straightened her purse and checked to make sure she didn’t lose anything on the Bart express. She moved to the front door, pulled it open and walked through. A young woman glanced up at her and smiled.

“Good afternoon, welcome to Avalon’s Spa and Resort how may I help you?”

“Uh…I’m looking for Melanie?”

The young woman glanced at the book in front of her and her eyes widened before she stood and smiled at Chloe.

“Yes Miss Sullivan, sorry about that. We’ve been expecting you. Come with me and I’ll take you to Melanie.”

Chloe nodded and followed the younger woman through the front reception area and back toward the different rooms. She was told to wait one minute and several seconds later a middle aged woman appeared a warm smile on her face.

“You must be Chloe.”

The woman took her hand shaking it lightly as Chloe nodded.

“Yes.”

“It’s wonderful to finally meet you. Shall we get started?”

She opened and closed her mouth a few times before shaking herself out of her stupor.

“I’m sorry Melanie; I’m just a little confused. What am I here for exactly?”

The woman smiled again and led Chloe to a large room.

“Mr. Queen has scheduled you for an afternoon at the spa. We’ll start with a massage and facial, then a manicure and pedicure, followed by hair and make-up. By the time we finish with that your clothes should be here.”

She frowned.

“My clothes?”

“Yes, Mr. Queen said they would be delivered around 5pm. Until then we’re here for anything you need.”

She motioned to the three people in front of her and Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise. She had four people just to work on her. People started milling about the room, talking and she just stood there.

A part of her wanted to reprimand Oliver for spending what she was sure was a tone of money on this, especially after the trip they took to Thailand, but the other part of her, the girly part that hadn’t been to a spa in years was exhilarated.

Ultimately she gave in and let them lead her around to the different stations without much of a fuss because like Oliver said, every once in a while everyone deserved a little pampering.

Five hours later Chloe stood in front of a full length mirror taking in her appearance. She was clad in a short, green, silk dress with a black sash over the waist. Her hair fell in waves slightly past her shoulders, make-up surprisingly light aside from the smoky eyes they’d given her.

She couldn’t believe the picture she painted. She almost didn’t recognize herself. Hey body was boneless and relaxed and her last worry had been rubbed away with the foot massage she had before her pedicure. Melanie came up behind her, hands on her shoulders and smiled.

“Well, what do you think?”

“I think you guys are miracle workers,” she chuckled and shook her head, “thank you for everything Melanie.”

She turned to face the older woman and she waved her off.

“It was my pleasure. Now there is a car waiting outside for you, but I have one more thing for you before you go.”

Chloe raised an eyebrow as she pulled out a small envelop and handed it to her with a knowing smile.

“Someone must love you very much…have a wonderful evening Chloe.”

She blushed slightly and nodded as Melanie walked away. She looked at the envelope before tearing it open none too gently trying to get at the message inside. She pulled it out as her eyes skimmed the words.

She grinned as she grabbed her purse and said her goodbyes to all the people that helped her that afternoon. When she made her way onto the street there was a gentleman holding the passenger side door of a black car open for her. He smiled and spoke in a soft voice.

“Good evening Miss Sullivan.”

“Good evening.”

She got in, he shut the door behind her, got in and started the car. He glanced at her through the review mirror.

“Were to?”

She seemed startled for a second before smiling. Of course. Oliver set up the ride, but it was her job to figure out where to go. She leaned forward slightly and spoke.

“2012 James St.”

He nodded and pulled out onto the road. It took twenty minutes to get back to Watchtower. He opened the door for her and she thanked him for the ride before making her way into the building. On her way up in the elevator a wave a nervousness hit her.

She’d been with Oliver for two years now and things were just as great as they had been when it first started. She never would have imagined that she’d find this kind of love with Oliver, but she had and Chloe was grateful for every second of it.

The elevator beeped, doors sliding open. She stepped out, walked down the hallway and took a deep breath before pushing the double doors open. The sight in front of her made her breath catch in her throat.

In the middle of the room sat a table for two set with candles and champagne. She moved closer to it and saw two plates full of her favorite Italian dish. The lighting was dim and she glanced around looking for Oliver, but found no one.

She was about to place her bag down when her cell phone chirped. She dug inside and pulled it out, sliding a finger over the alert telling her she had 1 new message.

Photobucket

Chloe spun on her heel before she even finished reading and there less than ten feet behind her stood Oliver, grin on his face a single tulip in his hand. She gave him a lazy smile as he moved forward.

She took the flower from his outstretched hand as he wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her against him. She wound her arms around his neck as he spoke in a whisper, lips grazing her ear, breath warm.

“Happy birthday Professor.”

“Mmm thank you Mr. Queen.”

He cupped her cheek and captured her lips in a long languid kiss. Lips molding to hers as he slipped his tongue into her mouth. When they finally pulled apart he mated their heads together as she tried to catch her breath. She could feel her heart slamming against her chest. She felt dizzy…intoxicated by his presence.

“How was your day?”

“Amazing…god so amazing Ollie. Thank you.”

He tilted his head and smiled.

“Anything for my girl. You ready for your present?”

Chloe’s brows furrowed in confusion and she stepped back and motioned to the room.

“I thought this was my present. The whole day…I mean Ollie the coffee…the flowers the spa…the dress and now dinner. Honestly this is perfect. I don’t need anything else to complete this night…well except maybe you.”

He saw the spark of mischief in her eyes and he chuckled as he took her shoulders and led her over to the table. He held out her chair and pushed her in when she sat before joining her across the table.

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a thin black velvet box. He slid it toward her and she sighed before taking it. She hesitated before opening it and glanced at him.

“Ollie…”

“Chloe…I promise it’s not a huge gift. Trust me okay?”

She nodded before looking down and flipping the box open. She bit her lips as she reached in and pulled out the bracelet. Three small charms hung from it. A ‘C’ for her name a heart with the words happy birthday on one side and love Oliver on the other, and a cup with the words coffee engraved on it.

Photobucket

Her head jerked up and he smirked as he reached across the table, taking it out of her hands and clasping it on her wrist.

“So do I know how to pick ‘em or what?”

“It’s gorgeous Ollie.”

He nodded.

“I know you’re not really into flashy, but when I saw this…I dunno it reminded me of you. And then when I saw the coffee charm I knew it was meant to be.”

She let out a light laugh as she turned her wrist around gently. He saw the smile slip from her face and he frowned.

“What’s wrong?”

Chloe shook her head.

“Nothing. I don’t think I could find one thing wrong with this day if I tried. I just…don’t take this the wrong way, but I want you to know that you don’t have to do all of this to make me happy. I would have been satisfied with a happy birthday and a cup of coffee…you know that right?”

She watched as his expression softened, humor on his face, but a seriousness in the depths of his eyes.

“I know Chloe…and that’s why I do it. Not because I have to or because you want it, but because you never ask for a thing. There are people who would take advantage of this situation, but you never would and that’s why I do it. Because you deserve it.”

He leaned back in his seat and she rolled her eyes.

“That or maybe you’re just trying to get lucky.”

“Oh I’m always trying to get lucky Sidekick…by the way how’s that working out for me tonight?”

A thoughtful expression crossed her face as she tapped at her lip.

“Hmm chances are looking decent.”

“Just decent?”

“I could probably be convinced…if you’re up for the challenge.”

He raised his eyebrows at her.

“What about dinner?”

“It can wait I’m craving something a little different at the moment.”

He was standing by her side in a matter of minutes as he lifted her from her chair, crushing her against his body. She moaned as warm lips closed over her neck trailing to her ear.

“Have I told you how amazing you look?”

She gripped his head, their eyes meeting both darkened with lust.

“Ollie…”

“Yeah?”

“Shut up…”

Her lips collided with his and he grinned. Hell he didn’t have to be told twice.

I loved the messages. Another for the memories. You really are spoiled with the fic art aren't you ;)

As for the dress. Reminded me of the dress Allison wore in the TV Guide shoot, just a different color. Also, she would fill it out better than that model. Very sweet fic.
