You're one in a million
You're once in a lifetime
You made me discover all the stars above us
I've been looking for that special one
And I've been searching for someone to give my love
And when I thought that all the hope was gone
You smile, there you were and I was gone
Oliver banged into the door trying to open it one last time unsuccessfully. It was Valentine’s Day and he had planned an incredibly romantic dinner for him and Chloe. Even though they had been together for slightly over a year, with the whole ‘just fun’ thing followed by him being kidnapped and her trading herself for him, this would have been their first real date.
Keywords…would have been. He sighed and turned back towards his girlfriend who gave him a tired smile. “It’s not a big deal Ollie…” He grunted and leaned his back against the door as he glanced over her body, the rich purple dress she wore hugging her curves perfectly as she sat on one of the chairs legs crossed.
He frowned as he loosened his tie slightly. “It is a big deal Chloe…tonight was supposed to be special. Not only am I no longer number one enemy of the state, but its Valentine’s Day. We’ve been together for over a year and I haven’t even taken you out on a proper date…”
She gave him a sympathetic look. “You couldn’t have known that Lionel had the locks changed…it’s not your fault.” He let out a light chuckle, a hint of annoyance on his face. “I shouldn’t have made us run to the office anyway…I should have just taken us straight to the restaurant. I’m really sorry Professor.”
She could see the genuine remorse on his face and she sighed before standing and making her way over to him. Oliver glanced up when he felt her hands glide up his chest. He arched an eyebrow as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed a kiss to his chin before speaking.
“You have nothing to be sorry about. Ollie…after everything we’ve been through…do you really think I care that we aren’t at some fancy dinner?” He shrugged and looked down, voice soft as his arms circled around her. “I just wanted everything to be perfect…”
Chloe placed a finger under his chin nudging it up until he was looking at her. “This may sound completely corny, but just being here with you makes today perfect. Five months without you showed me that any time we do get should be taken advantage of…and if that means being stuck in your office on Valentine’s Day…well then that’s where we’ll be.”
His face softened as he cupped her cheek, his words whispered as he spoke. “How did I ever get so lucky?” Her smile beamed up at him. “You loved me…” He nodded as he swallowed hard, eyes piercing into her. “And I always will…”
“Ditto…now come on…you said we had a couple of hours before the locksmith people get here…I’m sure if we’re creative enough we can salvage this evening. What do you say?” Oliver grinned and motioned forward. “I say lead on Sidekick.” She gripped his hand and pulled him forward.
Twenty minutes later an old tarp that had been covering the furniture in the office was spread out, several power bars and bottles of water between them as they sat on the floor in their formal wear, shoes kicked off to the side while they laughed.
Oliver took her hand and brought it to his lips before speaking, grin firmly planted on his lips. “Have I mentioned how thankful I am that you worked your magic and got my company back from Lionel after we sent him packing back to his own reality?”
She gave him a thoughtful look finger tapping her chin lightly. “Hmm…I believe you did, but I’d be more than happy to except further gratitude from you.” He smirked. “Oh would you?” She watched as he crawled over the dusty tarp and pounced on her causing them to roll over the wrappers from the bars and the bottles of water.
Chloe chuckled relentlessly as he attacked her body with his lips, hands tickling her sides as they finally rolled straight into the side of the couch. There was a loud bang and an ‘ow’ from Oliver as Chloe snorted and covered her mouth with her hands as he rubbed his head while frowning.
“Aww, poor baby, come here…I’ll kiss it better.” He bent his head eagerly and she let out another short giggle before kissing the top of his head. When he pulled back and glanced down, his chest tightened at her flushed face, eyes sparking, short curls strewn every which way.
She was gorgeous. Chloe Sullivan was definitely one in a million. He’d never met anyone like her in his entire life. There had been two times before her that he thought he was in love, but as he glanced down on the woman beneath him he knew neither of the times was the real thing.
This right here…it was what he’d been searching for his entire life. She tilted her head and gave him a questioning look and he gave her half a smile and licked his lips to moisten them. “Do you know how much I love you?”
She raised a hand and gripped his neck lightly. “Hopefully as much as I love you.” He smiled. “More.” He dipped his head down and captured her lips in a deep kiss, drawing it out until his chest burned. When he pulled back he sucked in a deep breath as she stroked his back.
The moonlight streamed through the windows casting a slight glow on the room as they laid their amongst dusty tarps and power bar wrappers. It wasn’t a five star restaurant or expensive wine. Their clothes were getting wrinkled and the hard floor wasn’t the most comfortable he had ever rolled around on, but for Oliver it was the best Valentine’s Day he’d ever had.
He shifted off of her and laid flat against the floor, her body automatically curling against his as he wrapped an arm around her. He turned slightly to see her face and noticed the faraway look in her eyes while she gazed at the window.
He tightened his arm on her and spoke quietly. “Penny for your thoughts?” She shrugged and cuddled up to him wrapping an arm around his midsection as the other came up on his chest. “I was just thinking that I could do this forever…”
Her voice trailed off and his heart beat sped up. So could he. Oliver placed a kiss on her forehead before relaxing his body, voice soft. “Who knows, maybe one day we will.”
