Lois paused glancing over her shoulder watching as her fiancé took off up the stairs a small grin breaking out onto her face as she pushed the black framed glasses she was wearing further up her nose. Even after seven years, she still didn’t think she’d ever get used to the quick change between Clark Kent mild mannered reporter and Superman, Metropolis’s greatest superhero.
She shifted on the stairs standing off to the side and taking a moment to let her mind wonder over everything she and Clark had been through over the years and she couldn’t help the warmth that filled her chest. It had been a long trek through relationship phobias, countless world ending catastrophes, and several botched weddings, but Lois had a feeling that today would be their lucky day.
She walked down the steps towards her desk ignoring the hustle and bustle of the Planet as her thoughts shifted to the first time she met Clark in all his naked glory. Lois grinned to herself. So it hadn’t exactly been love at first sight, and their relationship had never been easy, but they’d managed to make it through the tough times and here they were seven years later and each day that went by Lois fell more in love with him.
Clark was the most amazing man she’d ever met and by the end of the day she would finally be his wife, pending any last minute crises of course. Lois shook her head and let out a long breath. She still had a dozen things to do before she met up with Clark at the courthouse downtown. As she was lifting a few papers off her desk there was a commotion by the TV in the corner of the newsroom.
She turned, glancing at the live broadcast of Superman flying across the screen and her expression softened a smile tugging at her lips. No matter how many times Lois watched him soar across the skies, each time still felt like the first.
Lois was sure that any other woman who had attempted to get married the number of times she had, would be running for the hills. But not her. Knowing everything Clark did for the world only made her love him more. She glanced away from the TV, folder in hand, chest bursting with happiness as she headed for the stairs. Yup, it was definitely going to be the day…The rest of forever started today and Lois couldn’t wait.
